I’m Back!

I’m Back!

Guess who’s back? ME! I took a very long, unexpected hiatus from June-October.  Work has been crazy and life has been crazy (my dad passed away after a short battle with cancer in September) but hopefully things are slowing down and I’m doing my best to resume “normal.” I haven’t even been in the mood to read, and that says a lot. So hopefully I’ll have a new blog post up soon! Thanks to those of you who stuck around, I promise…

Guest Post: Books That Make Me Ugly Cry

Guest Post: Books That Make Me Ugly Cry

I’m really not a crier when it comes to books. When it comes to movies or books I barely show any emotion at all, because I’m a tough person. But the following books made me ugly-cry. What is ugly cry? When you read these books DON’T put makeup on, because it’ll get messed up. Believe me. 1) The Book Thief by Markus Zusak My reaction: 5 days later: The Book Thief will tear you apart, build you back up again,…

Book Review: And I Darken

Book Review: And I Darken

Let’s all just take a moment to give me a round of applause for actually sitting down and writing a blog post! YAY ME! I’m so sorry guys, life has been pure insanity the last couple of weeks – my family came to visit twice and we got a puppy! Any-who, onto the review! This. Book. Was. FAN-FREAKING-TASTICAL. The description states it’s like reading Game of Thrones but it was a bajillion times easier  for me. I got, maybe, 5…

An Unexpected Hiatus

An Unexpected Hiatus

Hey everyone! I just wanted to write a quick post apologizing for kind of disappearing! The last couple of weeks have been sort of rough and I haven’t had time to sit and write a post. I haven’t even had time to read! Everything is okay but life has just been busy. My family came to visit two weeks ago so I didn’t have time to post. Well, when my family was here they wanted to look at some puppies…

Exploring My Bookshelf!

Exploring My Bookshelf!

Exploring My Bookshelves is a weekly meme created over at Addlepates and Book Nerds and co-hosted with Shannon @ For the Love of Words. For more info on how it works, have a look here! Here’s how it works: Take a “shelfie” (a picture of your bookshelf.) Preferably literal, but e-shelves work too. I’ll give you something about your shelf to write about. It might be your favorite cover, your favorite author, your book you most recently bought, etc. Then give…

Scavenger Hunt!

Scavenger Hunt!

I was tagged by Lauren at Wonderless Reviews to participate in the scavenger hunt book tag! This looked like so much fun when Lauren posted it so hopefully mine doesn’t disappoint! Basically, you have to find a book on your shelves that fits the categories. After some research I found that this tag was originally created by The Library of Sarah, but the video has since been deleted. Find a book with the letter ‘Z’ in its title or the author’s…

You don’t want to ruin the book for others!) • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book…

Book Review: #Static

Book Review: #Static

After reading the description on NetGalley, I really had high hopes for #Static. I mean who wouldn’t be intrigued when you read that a dead brother calls and helps solve his murder? I was instantly excited to read it and find out what happened. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The biggest turn off in this book is the way it’s written – especially the dialogue. I know kids have their own slang but this was just absurd. Dog-beasties? Belly button worms?…
